So what do you do if you need to plant watermelons behind another crop and don’t know how they’ll do? You plant test plants!
We have a few early watermelon plants in the ground here and there to see how they do.
And how do we deal with the wind and cold? Buckets. Those babies will spend a good bit of time (on and off) under a bucket to protect them from the cold nights and windy days. (And you put dirt on the bucket to keep it from getting blown over.)
It’s one of those high tech farming practices!
And… we have rye middles planted! We’ll be transplanting before we know it!
