8 weeks and I’ve FINALLY gotten a handle on what this kid wants – sort of. After wanting to be nursed to sleep for weeks, I’ve discovered that when he starts to get nursey on me or if he gets a touch unhappy after eating and then being awake for 30 minutes or so, if I put him in his swing or car seat, he will go to sleep right by himself. Not the bed. Just the swing and the car seat. So where does he sleep during the day? Exactly. In his swing or car seat. At night he does great. He’ll go to sleep in his bed if I lay him down, and he goes right back down after I feed him each time. It took 8 whole weeks, but we’re running a little more smoothly around here now. And trips are fabulous because he loves that seat so much. He’ll easily go 4 hours plus at least once on the road – although we’ve done this only once or twice.
This week we took Leighton back to the pediatrician’s office for a checkup. He weighed 10 pounds 15 ounces at 7 weeks 4 days. He’s a pretty big one! I’m super excited about the developing fat rolls on his legs. Pictures to come :). He was 22.5 inches long.
His little fat self is getting close to having to wear bigger clothes and diapers. I have a box of 1 diapers I think I’m going to swap out because they are borderline now. I’m going to start on the 2s when my current few 1s are done. And I washed the 6 month clothes this week.
Right now we are still on pretty much the same schedule. He’s a nursing pro – he’s taught me everything I know. And he makes the funniest growling when he’s hungry. He’s nursing every 2 – 4 hours during the day and then about every 3 – 4 at night. We had one 6 hour stretch one night, and I didn’t know what to do with all of my energy! Usually I feed him at 10 or 11, then we get up at 2 or 3 and 5 or 6. After feeding him at 8am, he usually goes right back to sleep again for a little while and then wakes up all smiley! He turns his head when he smiles – it’s like he’s bashful!
And after our beach trip I noticed his little hands and feet got a tan. He’s going to have dark skin like his daddy!
We went to Sunday School for the first time this week! I totally forgot to get a picture before church! Leighton was a bit fussy, so our teacher took him to hold for a bit. Blair said, “Is she gon’ bring him back?!”
