Ormond Beach, Florida

Kelly’s Korner is featuring vacation spots today. I have a lot of favorites – including Africa where Brad and I spent our honeymoon, but I’m featuring a spot a little closer to home!

I grew up going to Ormond Beach, Florida so I know it like another home. I love the beautiful beaches and the quiet of Ormond with the bustling business of Daytona right next door. Although cars can drive on the beach in Daytona, they cannot in Ormond which makes it the perfect family beach destination. There are great Restaurants in Daytona as well as the boardwalk, NASCAR museum, putt putt, and anything else you could possibly want to do at the beach, but staying in Ormond gets you away from the packed A1A that goes through Daytona Beach. There are plenty of yummy places to eat in Ormond too!

I’ve stayed at two great condominium complexes in Ormond Beach: The Ormond Holiday Club and Bent Palm Condominium Club. They are so reasonably prices and offer condos from one to three or four bedroom. All of the condos have beach or pool views.

Another thing I love about going to Ormond Beach is that I know where to eat! Over the years, some of our favorite places have closed, but others have opened and become new favorites.

Brad, Blair and I ate at Betty’s A1A café three times while we were on vacation last summer. And I had the same thing every time. I was too scared that I would be disappointed if I got something else. (It’s hard for me to find seafood I love.)

Betty’s is in Ormond Beach just across the street from the ocean. Every time we go the food is delicious. I get the shrimp parmesan. They have the best fried shrimp, and I’m all about some marinara sauce, so the dish is perfect for me!

One night I had the crock of onion soup. It was delicious.

Another delicious place to eat is Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Bubba Gump’s is in Daytona Beach next to the boardwalk in the new mall. We had a little photo shoot out next to the outdoor stage and the beach.

I am usually not a fan of chain seafood restaurants, but Bubba Gump’s delivers! I had fish with shrimp over potatoes, and it was delicious.

Other places we love in the Ormond area are River Grill in Ormond on the Tomoca River, High Tides at Snack Jack (Flagler), Billy’s Taproom, the Peach Valley Café, and Stavro’s Pizza or Hull’s Seafood for a night in! Our other favorites in Daytona area are Aunt Catfish’s (in Port Orange), The Oyster Pub, and Park’s Seafood (in Holly Hill).

Yay for yummy seafood! I could eat a shrimp parmesan about right now….

Found your blog through Kelly's Korner and loved this post! I grew up going to Daytona and Ormond too. We love Aunt Catfish's! Luckily we lived only about an hour away so we could go there for dinner whenever we had the craving! Thanks for the trip back home this afternoon!

We have been going to Daytona for 20 years. We love to stay at Ocean Walk and our favorite place to eat is The Charlie Horse. We also love Aunt Catfish's...YUM. Can't wait until our trip in June.
