Desperate Times…

This is the door to my laundry room (on the porch).

It’s yucky (and COLD) out there, but at least we can do laundry.

And what, might you ask, is that brown thing emerging from a previously patched, newly opened hole in the door?

Oh, that’s just Buddy.

Zoomed in for the full effect.

This is the face of a needy chocolate lab when the neighbors’ dog is in  heat (and still out in the yard for some reason).

We have two chocolate labs who live in our fenced in yard – one neutered, one not. When Blair and I are outside we let them out and throw the ball for them. They usually stick around and play, but when Buddy just about runs me over out of the gate to make a beeline for the neighbors’ house, there’s only one thing going on over there. So, after three trips to the neighbors’ house to get him after various ways he slipped away, I put him in the laundry room so that we could play with Gus and not worry about Buddy escaping. And he reopened the hole in the door. The same hole that I had patched with a cardboard box and duct tape – just like any other southern woman would do – when I had my chickens in the laundry room when they were babies.

So Gus has been inside and Buddy in the yard so that we don’t have to open the gate at all. Women are so much trouble….
