Doctor Day

We spent a total of almost four hours today between two doctors. That plus more than three hours in the car seat equals not much fun for Blair. She was in a good mood for the most part, so it wasn't so bad. The "I'm gonna get your paci" game provides loads of feet kicking, belly rolling entertainment. It's such a simple thing that is, for some reason, hysterical to Blair.

The first visit was mostly appointment time for a well baby checkup and two shots. The shots were miserable. The second doctor's visit was mostly waiting time at the GI doctor. I like the GI doctor, but I don't quite understand why I have to sit there with my busy 16 month old for almost two hours for a five minute appointment -- and it was naptime.

We had a good visit to both places though. Blair weighed 18 pounds 3 ounces. I was glad she had gained weight since her last appointment. She pretty much only eats yogurt and milk when she's teething. She's doing great overall. Her hemoglobin was good, so I no longer have to give her iron. Yay for one medicine off the list! She showed off for the nurses, and that's always fun. They like to ask her about the alligator to see her clap her hands for "snap, snap."

Then we got released from the GI doctor! Yay! Blair's weight gain is good. Although she's still not on the growth chart for weight, she's proportional and gaining steadily. She IS on the chart for height (31") and head size (18") at 50%. That's the first time I've even been told what her percentiles were, because they just aren't that big of a deal, but I guess it's good to know she's in the mix!

So today was good, but I was disappointed to find out that my house did not clean itself while I was gone. Shoot. Guess I'll get to that after my pharmacology test and health promotion presentation are over!
