The name Across the Branch comes from a phrase from the "native language" of our rural area in south Georgia. I'll never forget the first time I heard Brad say that something was located "across the branch." I said, "Huh?!" I had no idea what he was talking about.
"Across the Branch," as far as I can tell, is used to refer to something over yonder or on the other side of the woods. An animal or snake can also come out of "that branch" or the woods.
I grew up only miles from where Brad and I live, but I've found there's a different language here! Although "across the branch" still sounds foreign when I hear it, the phrase is dear to me, and I smile every time I hear someone say it. And it's perfect for my blog because it just about describes the location of everything that goes on in our lives.
