Done.

Noooo. I'm not done blogging, though some seem to think so! I'm DONE with my thesis! HOORAAAAY! It was totally my fault for letting this thesis writing drag out so darn long, but two years after I finished the coursework for my Masters in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca and one week before it was due, I have finally turned in my memoria.

I wrote 47 pages on using mnemonics in the classroom, specifically for Spanish foreign language instruction in the USA. The paper included some research on the effectiveness of mnemonics as well as a collection of mnemonic devices that I used in my classroom over the six years I taught high school Spanish. Some were devices I created, and some were those I heard from others or stumbled upon in my effort to make things easier for my students.

I really enjoyed my time as a teacher. There are few things more enjoyable to us educators than to get notes from kids who graduated years back just to say that they are thankful to have been taught by us. I've had a couple recently, and they made me smile! I assure you that there are many more who are of the opposite opinion. My class was not easy, and I was the gum nazi, after all! But when I hear about those who studied or are now studying Spanish in college, I'm so proud. I love it!

So hopefully my days of speaking Spanish are not over just because I'm not in the classroom. I surely hope that I will be an asset to a health care facility as a Spanish speaking nurse one day! School starts in two weeks....
